DDR ENERGY PAD PROBLEMS

Hello I have a question:

I just bought the Metal DDR energy Pad with the Bar from a seller on Ebay. After receiving it, plugging it in my PC, and mapping the buttons, it worked on stepamnia for two songs on light. During that time, a couple of arrows didnt seem like they wanted to register but thought it was because I missed it. Now, While the two buttons at the top (a and b) work just fine, none of the arrow keys are actually registering anymore. Not in the game, nor in the settings of the actual controllers. I have the 5 in 1 control box. My question; is it the actual pad itself that is broken or is it an issue with the control box. Only reason I think it might be the control box because the two non arrow keys are working just fine.

You could try shorting out the two pins that go to one arrow and ground on the c-box to see if they work, if they do then it's the pad. You could probably open the control box as well and short out the two nodes that go to ground and the arrow instead of trying to short out pins and see if they work. If they don't work then the c-box is bad but the pad may also be. It's most likely the c-box, they are cheap and can't withstand the static that builds up inside the pad so the circuit board can get fried just from normal use.
