If you are breaking soft pads quickly, then you are ready to advance to a hard pad.

Hey! I was wondering what it would take to play a PS2 game on a 80gb fully backwards compatible PS3 with the Omega GX pad?
Does anyone have any converter suggestions and, if I need one, which control box should I get? Thank you!
Good soft pads for console games are becoming more and more rare to find. It's sad really ): so I think I'm gonna invest in the Precision one.

We offer a PS3 control box, haven't tested it on older PS2 games but I bet it will work. It's not available in the shop due to low demand so you have to specify it in the "COMMENTS" section, same cost as the USB control box.
