I downloaded a theme that I would like to try on my version of StepMania 5. The problem is that I have no idea how. I extracted it into the "Themes" folder with nothing changing and no way to change theme in-game. I would like some direction as to how to go about this theming thing for this game. It would be much appreciated.
Pick "Options" on the main menu, then "Display Options", then "Appearance Options". One of the rows on the Appearance Options screen should allow you to change the theme.

how do you INSTALL not select I'm reall bad at this
Usually a theme will come in a zip file. Extract it into the Themes directory in your user data location. See https://github.com/stepmania/stepmania/wiki/User-Data-Locations
Then after restarting SM, you should be able to select it under Display Options > Appearance Options.
