1
so lately, I have been getting songs stuck into my head and have been re-creating them in stepmania because it's fun. my style is mainly just follow the words/beat exactly or as close as I can because I only create pad files, and I usually avoid stops and bpm changes (tried in some song and decided I didn't want to put the effort into it because it's just for fun). I have finished a total of 4 songs plus another that I was having trouble with but fixed and haven't gotten to finishing it plus this one I'm starting. (sorry but currently no download links but if you're interested here's a vid of my most recent finished song Click Me For Vid

so, basically, this new song I'm working with is a genre of music I'm not exactly used to with timing (type of rap If I'm not mistaken). plus the song is a rip from the actual youtube vid if im not mistaken which can cause problems with timing too sometimes (Found the mp3 online someplace). I got a good start and I have found what I believe is the target bpm for the song according to a few different bpm detector programs I have (they are good programs that give/detect exact bpm down to 1/100 of a bpm), but it was a bit off beat cause there's like a pause at the beginning of the song. so I set the offset by -.25 and when I played it with the metronome on, it seamed to line up with the song perfectly/close to perfect all the way through (thats what I think at least, may be wrong). a lot of notes sound ok, idk if there perfect, but some just seem off and not with the flow imo.

I don't want the stepfile done for me cause that's the fun part and it gives me good practice at actually playing :P but I would like to know if my timing is good/correct or wrong and if my note placements are correct or wrong (where in the song would be nice if possible), same with the offset, and maybe a general start/edit of some of the notes I have so I know what type of notes I'm going to be working with (i.e. 1/16 1/8 exc.) cause I may have to dive deep into like 1/32 notes or something and I don't even know it or maybe it's looking good and it's just me idk. edit the file as much as you want if you'd like, I don't mind. any help would be appreciative.

like I said, I don't mind you editing the notes some or the bpm/offset to give me like a starter or something just don't do the entire thing for me or something :P.

Thank You
-TalPal-

BPM is all good, offset would be better if set to -0.220.

Your chart looks fine too, the only bits that didn't seem right to me were the following:
Original (beat 16):

What I would do:

Original (beat 26):

What I would do:

All rhythms and vocals in the song sound like they were supposed to be quantized as 4ths, 8ths and 16ths. So if asking me, I think your note timing is perfect apart from those two bits I mentioned above :)
Hope this helps!

Thank You SOO much for the help. my problem was the offset was wrong. after I fixed that, my mistakes seamed completely obvious, but the pictures helped too. my only problem was really the offset, if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have made those timing errors. Thanks again :) cheers man

EDIT: I was able to finish it tonight thanks to your help. I appreciate it
