Logout and profile options would probably be better at the top yeah. Some stuff I can think of:

-A preview post option
-maybe some smilies at some point
-a forum index link at the bottom
-size tag option, or it being in the formatting help dropdown for now (idk if the tag itself needs work though, also is the scale on it the same as the old site?)
-not really something that's needed right now, but when/if sigs are added I would like if there wasn't a 3 line limit like from the old site; it was just really restrictive to put multiple links with that there (I'm fine with the character limit being the same) (done -shake)

Yeah, I'd like GIF avatars working too.

I started implementing a WYSIWYG editor locally, but I was having post submission problems and put it off for some other fixes I had. It's also kind of a pain to make them handle custom bbcode properly and it'd be pretty lame if the editor didn't actually support everything.

misbehaving text for long thread titles

quote and multi-quote button

stepmania scores subforum with different sections to post scores in (index scores, spread scores, pad scores) (done -shake)

ajax loading of new posts in a thread (useful if a thread is getting a lot of traffic)

We HAD a scores forum before and nobody ever used the damn thing :\

Reply button quotes automatically, although multiquote could be handy (it'd really just be the same, but without jumping down to the text box)

I've thought about adding ajax post loading, but traffic has so far been pretty low and I'd have to set up some infrastructure for that.

EDIT: and the long title thing is an easy fix I'll take care of soon (done -shake)
EDIT 2: also I was gonna make a proper score tracker at some point

in terms of people actually using the scores forum, it would take a conscious effort on the part of the different communities to post stepmania scores on this forum. i think it is entirely possible to get that to happen though -- there just needs to be some encouragement.

should have checked what reply does though, my mistake on that.

Being able to see who posted a thread while browsing forums would be great.

And this definitely shouldn't be something to do right now, but an ultralight color scheme would be fantastic.

This is on the immediate todo list. It'll be here soon (next day or so, probably)

Yeah, I need to look into a profile option for color schemes. It shouldn't too hard to implement.
