I have an old pad that works the same way the energy pads work with the foil. I'm not sure how the precision pads work but I really like the look and feel of my pad that is similar in construction to the energy pad. I've had my pad for almost 5 years and it's still going strong. Are the energy pads really that bad?

If your pad is still going strong, then why change? I believe you can read reviews on amazon for the DDRGame metal pads, pretty consistent that they break really fast.
As for our pads, they are not the same look / feel, ours are similar in construction to a Cobalt Flux pad, nothing like what DDRGame uses, no screws, very few moving parts, reviews for our pads are also on Amazon, or you can find videos on youtube. One great way to get an idea on a dance pad is to see it in action, check out some videos and ask the pad owners their opinions.
