Modding a metal Energy dance pad?

Is it possible to swap out the acrylic on the buttons for these pads to something more aesthetically pleasing/durable? Is it also possible to add LEDs to the inside of the buttons to replicate an official arcade controller in terms of appearance? Here's an image of one for reference.

I'm sure you could use whatever material you want for the panels if you cut them to size and get them to fit properly. The only mods I know of are by this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQk6PSV-zDw
