Hi, I’m trying to use the konami dance pad, the one which comes with the Xbox 360 game but I haven’t been able to use it, I have the problem that I can press up and down or left and right at the same time, I’ve tried using x360ce but no luck, I’m using windows 8.1 thanks.

I'm having the SAME dan problem and I cant figure it out! If you know please pass it on.

I was told to check this out: http://beta.stepmania.com/forums/input-adapters-and-controllers/show/483

I did almost everything and I don't understand anything.

I'm awful with computers but if that helps you please explain better!

X360 and PS3 dance pads while they have native USB output mostly do not work with PC. SOME third party dance pads for PS3 and X360 do work with PC. I'm not sure how that script would fix the L/R and U/D as they register at the same time due to some reverse grounding in the X360 (I'm not really sure I just know those pads are wired up really screwy) but maybe there is a way to force the PC to recognize whatever difference there is in the button presses. But even if you manage to get it to work he claims the extra script causes lag.

Native USB is always the way to go (not PS3 / X360 USB).

The topic I made may help you. The problem PS3 and 360 controllers have is that they do not input as a dance pad, but rather are detected as regular controllers. This creates an issue where the 4 arrows are read as an axis. The problem with that is that for an axis, you can not push both sides, else it just returns to center position. I posted a fix for these issues that may work for you here. I have yet to test it on these types of controllers, but as long as it is a usable controller in windows, it should work for stepmania.

Try using XBCD and configuring the arrows to buttons(e.g button 12, 13, 14, 15).
These instructions work with Windows 8.1. I didn't write this, but I did what it said, did a little tinkering with the buttons, and it worked.
