These guys sell lots of different pads http://www.ddrgame.com/. I have an Energy thick foam pad and I really like it. I've played a lot on it and it has held up perfectly.

I got one of these http://www.play-asia.com/super-dual-box-pro-paOS-13-49-en-70-qc3.html to replace my old SmartJoy which doesn't work properly with DDR pads on Windows 7. The Super Dual Box Pro is plug and play and has no problem with properly recognizing pad inputs.

DDR Game is well known, the likely reason they are not listed in the controller section is that they are not recommended as this site is inhabited by more serious players and soft pads only last us a few days or hours before they are destroyed. But for beginners they should last a few months depending on how often it's used and how hard. The company that is recommended for soft pads has a better warranty policy.
