axis problem

i have a problem with my pad. it doesn't register up+down or left+right. i heard that it's called the axis problem. my pad looks like this: http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/ddrgame_2249_58881191. is there a fix?

The PS3 pads produce a problem different than the Axis problems typically. There is a thread further down where someone claims to have a way to solve axis problems you can investigate bot overall the PS3 and X360 dance pads do not work with stepmania.
