I was considering buying one of these with the Multi-Control box in the future. Ive heard good things.

I weigh around 170 pounds and I usually play expert pad songs, 9 on ITG scale, Up to 14 on the DDR scale. But in order to pay itself off, it needs to last at least 2 years if I play it once a week. If anybody has had this pad for a long time, or if you have had any problems with it, please let me know.

r21freak has a long thread of people posting about them, with some reviews. http://r21freak.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=24127
Basically, the people that have them like them, but Hellrazor himself (the maker) is the only one that has had one for multiple years, and his is still in nigh perfect condition.

I've had mine for about a year now and it's still just fine. I would think as long as you take decent care of things, it should last two years. I weigh about 175 and probably average out to an hour play session each week (but much more spurty than that) playing 6-8 foot songs. You may want to read up on the pad a bit. If you're using it on carpet, you're going to want a board or something to put it on top of. On a hardfloor surface though, you're good to go.

Can I attach it to a piece of Masonite with duct tape?

I don't see why not. It's probably best to use tape or something to secure the four corners to the board and then use it like that. I haven't personally done anything to mine as I use it on a vinyl floor, but the pad does have some bend to it naturally, so if it's on carpet, it'll be enough to bend and throw off your play. Masonite should do the trick though, or some MDF or something. Also, Gorilla tape might be better than duct tape, but duct tape will probably be adequate. One day, I'd like to build a little wooden dock/platform to put my pad into and a bar in the back, but I kind of need to wait until I have my own place for that to be a good idea.
