Here's a Gamecube to PC controller adapter I recommend for StepMania. There is no lag, and the directional buttons map to buttons 13 through 16, allowing Up+Down and Left+Right jump inputs on dance mats without any problems. I tested it with StepMania and the directional buttons get mapped properly.
