I'd say most likely the control box. That's your weakest link, you could build a new control box and see if that fixes the problem. Or if you don't solder then we sell them: http://www.precisiondancepads.com/index.php?id_product=23&controller=product&id_lang=1

Thanks to both of you for the great info. I'm definitely going to test the input for start and select on the control box this weekend. Thanks for the responses.

I will respond in 2 or 3 days. Thanks!

Ok, so it took seven days for me to respond. I have been busy.

Today I tested the control box. The button closer to the Cobalt Flux end works, but the button closer to the computer end does not. I opened the control box and didn't see any frayed wires or blown capacitors.

I would be happy to buy a new control box, if you really think that will fix it. I have the 15 pin connector. What do you think?

Thanks in advance!

Usually the problem are the solder points themselves, otherwise circuit boards do go out.

You have a good switch and an open control box, grab a paperclip and attach one end to common (ground) and the other to any of the inputs going to the arrows in the pad and if they don't work then the control box is indeed the problem.

You can also grab your multi-meter and check resistance from any of the inputs that go to the pad and common (ground) then step on the arrows, if you see resistance go to near 0 then the pad is fine. Typically the CF pads fail from over-use not from storage so I expect the c=box to be the problem.

Thanks for the reply. A lot of good info here.

I will give it a shot. For the first scenario, couldn't that mean it's still the pad when an arrow isn't responding? What did you mean by, "if they don't work", in your post?

Thanks.
