Two adapters, one computer?

Hey there. I'm trying to get two pads to work on Stepmania 5 on my Windows 7 64-bit computer. I have a PS2 -> USB adapter (Super Dual Box Pro) that works perfectly with one pad , but completely wets the bed if I try to plug both pads into it at once. My question is, does anyone know if I could get around this problem by simply buying another one of these adapters, plugging one pad into each adapter, then plugging both of the adapters into my computer at once? I'd normally just buy it and see for myself, but I just blew $20 on an EMS USB2 thanks to someone's (false) assurance that it worked plug-and-play on Windows 7 so I'm feeling pretty wary now.

Using two adapters has worked well for me in the past.
