Thanks for posting the D-Force Dance Pad reviews, shakesoda. I'm new to StepMania, and decided to buy the non-slip version after reading your reviews. Looking forward to using the pad soon!

Watch out for the sticking. I found that it happens mostly on the first rounds after unfolding it and that it helps to drag your feet from the center out toward the panels to make sure things are flat (or... something like that. it helped quite a bit for me, and almost totally eliminated it on the foam ones).

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone's had any issues with the D-Force foam pad. I got one a few weeks ago and performance has been poor. It feels like the foam is too thin and the plastic on top bunches up in places. Been having some issues with arrows not responding too, though I haven't gone through all the software issues that might be causing that.

Do you have the debounce on?

As for foam pads, you can't expect too much from them I know the guy that sells those pads is very responsive to e-mails and has an awesome warranty for soft pads give him a message.

does anybody know where i could get a hard pad for under 50 bucks AUD? cause most of my money is going towards buying a copy of ddr extreme ps2, and a ntsc ps2.....oh yeah, and ill use the pad for stepmania too :) (alternately, is there a guy who does custom soft non-slip pads? if not, then a confirmed non-slip pads, but not the ones on here :)

You'll be hard pressed to find soft pads at that price, but for a cheap and durable solution you can hard-mod a soft pad. There are guides, it basically involves getting a hard base for the pad and adding duct tape to hold the pad down, some more in-depth mods add a plastic layer over the pad so they can play in shoes. The pad will still be a soft pad so you can't expect it to last forever and performance will always be sketchy, but it should perform and last longer than an unmodded soft pad.

thanks man, thankfully though, im getting a good foam pad (i.e: dance pad v2.0), so is that good? and i might get a crappy but still a bit awesome light up regular soft pad :) (both of which, are coming from amazon)
