Hi guys, happy holidays! Can't figure my way around this one, maybe you have an idea:
While attempting to play, the left arrow registers about 25% of the time only in stepmania, leading to inevitable failures.
I looked into it and in the input screen, after the first time I hit a left or up key, the left and up arrow inputs are permanently registering as being hit even when i step completely off the pad. I have tested this with different pads, computers, and adapters which all work fine for PS2 DDR and Crypt of the Necrodancer but the problem never changes. Halp.
Pic of output values when Im not standing on the pad
Pic of output values when I have my foot on one key
From what I know, the output values you see on the display should be binary, right? I.E.) Joy1 Left1 - 1 (or nothing shows up for Joy1 Left 1 - 0 when the pad is not being pressed). I get Joy1 Left1 - 0.004, shown above. When I step on a left or up arrow, those values change from 0.004 to 1, but return to 0.004 when I step off. I think that this is what's making me have so much trouble hitting steps but I can't be certain.
Extra info for what I've tried if you want to know:
Initially, I thought it was the adapter or the pad, but I tried it with an omega gx today and an old ddr soft pad in the past with different adapters and the results were the same. I've tried three different step mania versions close together (5.0.9,5.0.11,and 5.0.12) and had the same issue. Finally, I tried using a different computer which has never had stepmania on it before (and used the default stepmaina with no options changed), and still the problem persisted. This leads me to believe that it's a software issue or something on my part that I'm missing; is there some option in the settings that im missing to solve this?
Mats tested: omega gx with their multitap adapter, ddr ps2 soft pad w/ super dual joybox adapter
Computers tested: mid 2010 macbook pro, 2012ish mac desktop
Stepmania versions tested: 5.0.9, 5.0.11, 5.0.12
I haven't seen any other threads on this. Please let me know if you have any thoughts b/c theres no such thing as too much ITG or DDR and stepmania looks amazing.
