Hi,
First of all, sorry if this was the wrong sub-forum/forum altogether for this sort of query - I had a look around and wasn't able to find any other forums that were still active that had a good chance of possibly getting help :(
My problem is that none of the pads on my four-year old TX-6000 work any longer (it crapped out after about 3 months) - after trying to do some diagnosis, it seems that the control box is fine (the Stepmania test area registers the two control box button presses), but the 6 buttons (U/D/L/R/A/B) on the pad itself aren't detected at all. Some of the aluminium foil under some of the pads were ripped, and the rest were moderately-badly creased, so I put a new layer on top of those. Until I can figure out what the problem is and fix it, I'm hesitant to spend the cash to replace them with metal sheets, or unless I determine it's the aluminum that's the sole source of the problem (down under here in Australia, most things don't come by too cheap unfortunately).
Is my only course of action at this stage to start trying to replace the wired copper pads themselves? Is there a way for me to diagnose the problem (I have a USB voltage/ampere measurement thing, that didn't seem to serve any use, and a multimeter at home but the whole thing is so closed off I can't foresee being able to actually take apart more than just the top panels without destroying the whole thing). Not too familiar with this sort of troubleshooting, so any pointers on where to start, beginning with non-destructive tests (if applicable) followed by destructive ones would be greatly appreciated. If it helps, I have wire strippers and electrical tape handy.
TL;DR - TX6000 metal pad up/down/left/right/A/B controls not working, control box still working. Where should I start on trying to fix it? It's several years old and out of warranty (which was 30 days - should have been a red flag against the retailer but I was young and naive, lol.)
Thanks :)
