If you are trying to use the time signature to change the color of the steps, well, you cant. 1/4 steps will stay 1/4 steps and 1/8 steps will stay 1/8. But if you want to use a time signature to help you with editing, first try 3.5/4. If that doesn't work (it probably won't), try 7/2. But if you don't like the way 7/2 looks (It has 7 lines close together), then the best thing to do from that point would be to change the time signature back and forth from 5/4 to 6/4 at the end of every 7/2 time signature. So what you would do is put a 5/4 time signature where you want it to start, and put a 6/4 where you want it to end. Then repeat and put a 5/4 where you want it to end. Then keep on doing this until the last one, which at the end you would put a 4/4 (unless its for the whole song.)
