Hello SM community! I'm a lurker, but a HUGE Stepmania fan. I'm obsessed with this game, and I feel that it is my calling to archive every SM song that I come across. I have many songs going back to the Bemanistyle days, and I recently came across/added 200GB of songs. SM can handle a lot of songs, but it will crash if you add too many to load. I think it is a memory constraint due to it being built around a 32bit program. I have 64gb of ram, but SM can only utilize 4gb max.
However, I don't need to load them all at once though. One solution would be to only load songs by the maximum footsteps. I'm solely a pad player, and I will never be able to play something with more than an 11 rating. I can sort in SM to show only songs with this rating, but I would like to only load the songs of this difficulty or lower.
I also could delete the songs with crazy difficulty, but I haven't found an easy way to do so without doing it one by one. I'd be satisfied deleting all of the ridiculous difficulty songs in my collection if I could find a program that could do so. A program that could search for a string such as " Challenge:
15:", and allow me to delete all simfiles with this string.
Another way to do this would be to have the ability to delete groups, or sorted groups. It would be cool to delete all songs with 15-20 difficulty from within the game.
Any tips on managing a collection of this size, or does it need to be sorted song by song?
