Stepmania DDR to PIU .sm question

I have found on several forums that Stepmania 5 is capable to automatically transform DDR steps to PIU steps
like being able to play the 4 arrows game but with 5 arrows

Is this actually posible? and if it, how can i do it?

cause putting the files on the same folder and starting the game is not doing it :P

You need to turn on the "Auto-generate Steps" option (I forget where it is exactly), which was disabled in a recent version (I forget which offhand), since the quality of the auto-generated stepcharts is considered to be "low quality" compared to manually creating a new step sequence that takes the alternate panel configuration into account.
