I have the HDE PS/PS2 to USB adapter http://www.shophde.com/h05.html#.UsHuFfRDuSo

The driver for it does not work well with Windows 8. 9 out of 10 times it doesn't recognize it or it malfunctions. And when I do get it to work, pressing left and right at the same time or up and down at the same time. I was wondering if there was a better driver that will fix these problems. Please reply if you know anything.

That adapter looks identical to mine, although mine is so old I can't tell if they are exactly the same or not. If it is the same as mine, in order to be able make simultaneous presses, you have to activate a different mode in the adapter. To do this on mine, you plug in the USB (hopefully the OS recognizes it) then press "Start, Select, Up Arrow" simultaneously on the pad, holding them for 3 seconds.
