*.sma files wont load (SM 5.0.9)

Hi, I recently started playing Stepmania and got some *.sma files which wont load (the game doesnt recognize them as song files).
I tried installing the beta 3 version since I found a thread in the forums stating that the beta 3 version supports *.sma files but i cant run it (game freezes when opened).

Current versions of StepMania 5 have a buggy .sma loader that doesn't actually load .sma files properly.
