Forums » General Questions » .SM difficulty settings? (VALUABLE INFO)

So I've decided to pick Stepmania back up. I decided to make a .sm file instead of using the actual editor (cuz I'm cool like dat).

I was just curious, what are the different difficulty settings possible? I tried Easy and Light, but the stepfile wouldn't register.

I'm thinking it's just because I need to put more notes into the actual stepfile, instead of just one. I'll report back if I get the answer myself.

Alright, so after further testing, I've realized that the difficulties are Novice, Easy, Medium, Hard, Challenge(should be Expert :/), and Edit.
I've also realized that the .ssc file is better in every way over the .sm file. The game basically ignores the .sm file, because if anything differs from the .sm and .ssc file, the game uses everything in the .ssc file.
There's also a #DESCRIPTION in the .ssc, allowing you to edit the name of the Edit (maybe even the name of the other difficulties?).

TL;DR: .ssc is better than .sm.
I'll probably try to post all this stuff in the wiki, if I can...
