Editing a file doesn't change it in Stepmania

Whenever I edit a background, music, or sm file without using stepmania, but I keep the same name the file had before, when I open Stepmania, everything is still the same. Even if I reload songs from the options, it still doesn't change. Not even restarting my computer changes it. It's only when I rename the file that it changes.

So, is there a way to fix this?

disable fastload :-)

or alternatively delete your cache and reload stepmania

How do you delete cache or enable fastload? (Sorry, I'm a noob)

you should DISABLE fastload
first way is to go to your preferences.ini and set FastLoad=0
or go to options->advanced options and set fast load off (2nd to last option)

alternatively you can go to options an choose "reload songs/courses"

I'll go to preferences.ini because the theme that I have (DDR X2) crashes when I go to Advanced options, it crashes. Meh.
