Do you know if this is a good pad http://www.amazon.com/PS2-Energy-Foam-Deluxe-Dance-Playstation/dp/B000GHG0BA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

It has some good reviews, some bad,

But its definitely better than my $10 pads that break every couple of months.

Please tell me if this is a good pad, and if it works with StepMania 5 on Windows 8 and PS2. If you have any experience with this pad please reply.

Thank you

60$ for a foam pad seems wayyy to much. Add some more and you can afford a metal pad.

It depends. I've used that pad, and it's a big step up from the pads that come packed in with DDR. If you're playing on light mode, it'll probably last quite a while and it'll be fine. If you're playing on heavy though, it'll wear out in under a year. It's not a terrible pad. Sadly, I don't know of anything better to recommend for that price range. There just aren't a lot of usb pads available any more. That being said, I'm using a $300 pad and it's amazing... I would never go back to that Energy pad, but that might be outside your price range.

But I've had problems with windows 8 drivers for stuff like this, so does anyone know if it will work for sure with Windows 8?

Hmm. No idea about Windows 8. I've only used it with Windows 7.

If it works with windows 7, it should work with windows 8. But when you first plugged it in to your PC, did windows install a driver for you, or did you need to install a driver yourself. Or did it even need a driver at all?

Anyway I'm most likely going to get the mat. It has everything I need.
