StepMania Arcade

I am planning on building an arcade cabinet running StepMania 4 by default with an ITG PC theme.

The ITG PC theme I re-labeled as StepMania Arcade, it does all the great ITG stuff and can go online (StepMania Online)

It will remain OPEN SOURCE and will come with NO songs, users will have to add all their own content, but can also use any version of StepMania they like.

I could use help.

1st - Is anyone troubled by this? My input is the hardware, the cabinet etc, I do not intend to profit on the software.
2nd - I really need help populating the CREDITS
3rd - Score display in StepMania Online in the StepMania Arcade theme is broken and I can't figure out how to fix it
4th - Advice on how to get this to run on Linux?
5th - Anyone want to help on modifying graphics to make it look nicer?
6th - For courses beyond 5 songs the SONG # is not shown and I don't know how to fix that.
7th - For Long / Marathon songs if there were 2 or 3 songs remaining respectively and one of those was chosen the game would crash and I don't know why, I simply made LONG / Marathon to be 99999 seconds because of this but I would prefer it was just fixed.
8th - For Marathon songs I couldn't get the icon to display during the song-selection until AFTER the song finished.
9th - Anything else I'm missing????

These are things I could use help with.

Why I choose StepMania 4 is because oITG is really buggy IMHO and I need something very stable, StepMania 4 goes ONLINE and I am interested in global arcade online tournaments, StepMania 4 plays ITG really well I believe ITG 3 was going to be built on SM4,

TO INSTALL: Run the .exe file then DELETE the folders THEME, NOTESKIN and replace with the THEME and NOTESKIN files in the .zip. Then after running the program once, go to My Documents - StepMania CVS - Save and replace Preferences.ini, and finally in Data replace Static.ini and place the splash ITG2.png.

This is what the dance pad will look like when complete, it is a SINGLE ASSEMBLY

I can help you with the SMOnline Problem, Your saying it only displays on SMO? Try changing the score type in options. Make sure it's like in percent. As like in some ITG Machines. 100.00% Which the score would look like if it was MFC, FFC for ITG. If you want to change the decals of the pad and the buttons or the usb plugs, This guy helped me with my itg for sm 3.95. Anyway, here's the website for the decals that he show me. http://itg3.beej.ca/index.php/step-86 He could show you how to make the base and the cabinet design and the sub. I use the pacdrive just like he said. That's how the arrows lights up. pac2 controls the sensors. you might need that. You need speakers and car amps, subs, and regular amps.. :/ Skip the openitg software part. If your using sm4.0.
Tip about SM4, It doesn't work like normal openitg. you should get sm 3.95 And you would need to setup the usb hub. You have to make the ports different if your using memorycards. you need to turn it on while your in openitg, then turn it on, then change the ports in static.ini or for sm 3.95, edit stepmania.ini and Put this when you find "MemoryCards=0" Put this. "MemoryCards=0" with out the quotation marks. If your using Linux, You don't need to do that. If your using Windows, Then you have to set it in the ini. If windows, get USBDLM and LibUSB. I could show you SM 3.95, But it's only for windows. http://stepmaniaonline.net/index.php?page=downloads and click Stepmania 3.95 CVS. Put the default noteskin in apperance options. I set it up for vivid for colorblind players. I don't know how to setup DLM or LibUSB. so follow the instructions. I could send my noteskins folder and my songs and courses..

If you downloaded the software you'd see I disabled USB. Not sure arcade owners want custom songs that could crash machine, it will be accessible in the rear. We did follow alot of his ideas for the Cabinet and Subs / Speakers. I also have some pac drives for the lights and got the coin slot from them.

StepMania Online scores display just fine but they are in the wrong location, they show up in the middle of the screen instead of where they belong and I messed around with a bunch of options and nothing moved the score position relative to the screen.

I also will not have a BACK button on the machine as BACK can disable the timer, it will be like DDR with a simple left/right/start and no memory card. Not to say we couldn't add those things in the future.

You are missing the basics, you can simply have a SONGS folder on a USB drive and have INFINITY songs available as it's pure and simple StepMania.

I choose SM4 because it does a great ITG build with Survival, Marathon, Modifiers, Online, it's really stable (other than the song editor). But the PC won't prohibit the owner from simply installing another StepMania build, the software will be fully open source. I get the strong impression you haven't downloaded or given it a shot yet...
