How do you change the theme (advanced way)?

I got 2 themes and they both do not work. And when I tried to use it it shows so many errors. How do I change to theme to a working theme without going to the options? If there is no way, Then my StepMania 3.9 will never work forever! I have Windows 8 running.

Press Scroll Lock. That should take you to the service menu, which should allow you to find the setting for changing the theme.

I don't know where the preferences file for SM 3.9 is, so I can't tell you how to find it to change the theme setting in it.

Where is the scroll lock key?

If your keyboard doesn't have a Scroll Lock key, then you're stuck.

If you're on Stepmania 5, then the preferences file is in %APPDATA%/StepMania 5.0/Save/Preferences.ini and you can edit it to change the them back to default by changing the "Theme=something" lines.

On stepmania 3.9, the preferences file is in stepmania/Data/GamePrefs.ini (or StepMania.ini or one of those files). Change "Theme=themename" to "Theme=default".

Sadly, I am running a StepMania 3.95 theme and I do not have the GamePrefs.ini file...

I know this reply maybe very late, but the GamePrefs.ini would be in Stepmania CVS\Data\GamePrefs.ini

I managed to solve this problem. I found the GamePrefs.ini file at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\StepMania\Data and changed it back to the default theme!
