SM Micro is/was a browser-based implementation of the Stepmania engine.

Although it didn't have the full range of features that the regular versions of SM have (such as customizable themes, note skins, etc), it does/did allow you to play individual songs in your browser without the need for any additional plug-ins. If I'm not mistaken, Micro is written in HTML5 (and came out around the same time as HTML5 did).

Definitely interested in seeing where Chris and the rest of the SM crew will take the Micro project in the future. It's not something I could sit and play for hours on end (like SM proper is), but it is/was definitely an interesting diversion.

EDIT: Actually, here's a link to the live demo that was up (and still is, thanks to old.stepmania.com lol); http://old.stepmania.com/wiki/StepMania_Micro

That demo was nice. I'd be interested in hacking around with the code if it is technically open source.

I know I can view source it, but I would rather get it from github (hoping that code is put in micro github repo) or have some feedback on actually using that code. I did not see any licensing info in the JavaScript.

*Edit:
Just read on the news about the "status" of Micro, "SM Micro is due to come back at a later date, along with the song database, but I don't know how far out that is. "

I can't wait for it to come about because I'd be interested in messing around with it.

Ok, so I went to http://old.stepmania.com/wiki/StepMania_Micro and got all the files to start experimenting with it to try to have it work with other songs.

So I'd like to ask the devs if they'd like me to fork the micro github and put in a pull request with the code?

I hope to eventually convert either stepfiles to the JavaScript timing format used or make it read sm or dwi files.

I'm actually planning to completely rewrite SM Micro and use a different note data format, I wouldn't recommend writing tools for the existing one.
