Default Windows 7 64 bit

Hi,
I've found some questions already asked about that problem, but I haven't found the answers.

My Windows 7 64 bit does not recognize the dance pad as a game controller, therefore, the buttons on the pad are not active in Stepmania game. The pad connects to the PC via USB port.
What is the solution for this problem?

Thanks!

Hi, I also have an Windows 7 64 bit system.

First of all, what stepmania version do you use? the new 4.0 alpha 5 or the stable 3.9?

Then tell me wich Dance Pad do you use? Tell me the name of your dance pad or give me a link, so I can help you properly.

If this is done, then u should check the following:
Does your Dance Pad work on other PC's/Systems (not 64 bit systems or on windows xp/vista). It could be that your Dance Pad is broken...

Check your PC's USB Ports. If your PC does not recognize the Dance Pad, the USB Port may be damaged or broken. Try other USB Ports on your PC (if avaiable)

Thats it for now. I'm waiting for your answer. And please answer all questions given.

Good morning,

1) I use the stable Stepmania 3.9
2) The dance pad - it's the most problematic part. On my dance pad is written "Dancemania" and that's all! No manufacturer, no "made in..", nothing! It's very similar by the looks to this dance pad, but the colors are a bit different. I think it's the same manufacturer. My dance pad has an USB connection, so I don't need any adaptor.
3) The pad works perfectly on Windows XP 32 bit.
4) My USB ports also works fine - I use them daily.

After about a month of intensive search for a solution in dance pads forums, Win7 forum, etc., I've solved this problem by installing Windows XP in a dual boot with my Windows 7 x64.

P.S. Installing WinXP in Virtual Machine does not help, because there is a terrible delay between the steps on the pad and the reaction of Stepmania - apparently, the VM slows down the pad-PC interface.

Virtual machines have really bad DirectX and OpenGL rendering, if any at all (depends on software) so VMs are not a viable solution for multi OS gaming yet. It's unfortunate that you needed to install XP to use your pad... Maybe Windows 7 x64 doesn't come with the drivers any more?
