Default Songs that shouldn't be there are there?

Hello.

Maybe it's some new mechanism in Stepmania 4 Alpha 4 that I don't understand as I just reinstalled Stepmania and had CVS 4 and 3.9 for a while before, but here's my problem: I tried opening .smzip files containing stepmix4 entries and it gave me an error. (Install failed for "wrong extension", whatever)
Uptil there it's fine they are in the game, but I don't like how the folders are named. So I went into my Songs folder and couldn't see any of them. Reinstalling and deleting the folder doesn't help, they're still there. So my question is where are those songs stored, why aren't they in the Songs folder as usual, and how can I remove them?

Sorry if the answer is somewhere, but I didn't see it.
Thanks.

They could be in /Packages, as their original (sm)zip file names.

Yeah, I checked there too, and as I said, even after uninstalling Stepmania 4 and deleting the whole folder, they're still there. But thanks.
I checked in the registry too because I though theyre may be paths leading to my folder containing those smzips somewhere, even though I think Stepmania only uses INIs for preferences and such, but I didn't find anything except some uninstall things.
I really don't understand where else they could be... Also, searching for "Stepmix" on my computer ended up giving me nothing but my original files, so I assume it really is just somewhere linking to my smzip files in my download folder, but if so, I still don't know how to remove them.

Edit: Moving the files didn't help. Aaaah. I don't understand.

Try going to %appdata%\StepMania 4\Songs or %appdata%\StepMania 4\Packages.

To avoid this in the future, create a blank text document in your StepMania 4 folder and rename it from "New Text Document.txt" to "portable.ini"

Oh wow, so that's where they are. Going up to appdata is unintuitive, they should stick with the songs folder. (though I'm guessing that's why the "portable.ini" is for, and I understand it's an alpha and all but anyway)
Thanks alot. :)

They go in appdata to try to work around the problem with Vista and 7 redirecting stuff. If you are running either of those I advise not using Portable.ini if you have SM installed in Program Files (it's fine if it is in your user folder though).

Ah, I see. I've heard about those but since I've been using XP forever, I couldn't know. Thanks.
Still, I think it could be made more obvious, like adding a shortcut to the Stepmania appdata folder in the start menu entry just like the "Open StepMania 4 Program Folder" one. Or a shortcut from the said folder. Anything at all, actually. :P
