    May just pick up a used first generation mac mini for a couple hundred. Whats the minimum requirements I need on one to run without hiccup

    don`t recommend mac. Stepmania works better on windows. 1Ghz CPU, GeForce4 or above (with exclusion of Intel chip graphics cards), 1 gb ram, and you should be fine.

    StepMania works fine on Mac OS X, but it won't work with a PPC processor like the Mac mini you are going to purchase will probably have, if it is first-generation. You could drop it on a flash drive just fine, but remember to create Portable.ini in the folder it is in so that it saves settings to the flash drive.

    No, it wont work.


    On the other hand, I dont know how is it going, but I read that StepMania 5.0 was being ported to ARM processors and by the time its finished, you will be able to play it using a Raspberry Pi

    Get a digital TV, with a PC port, and hook that to your computer. Calibrate for video/audio lag. Problem solved.
