    Default StepMania 5 Tournament Edition

    Latest Version: pre001.2

StepMania 5 Tournament Edition (SM5TE) is a modified version of StepMania 5 currently meant for "legit" scoring. (There are other plans, but I won't divulge them at this time.) To that end, the scoring system has been replaced with MIGS (Marvelous Incorporated Grading System), and Marvelous has been forced on. (Sorry, Pump players.)

The changelog is available if you want to go in-depth.

I am open to suggestions about the theme (aside from "replace it with SMMAX"). I designed the gameplay screen based off of SMMAX in order to stop this suggestion before it starts. ;)

Nice idea and not bad initiation from your side. But I hope that we will get stable version of SM 5 quite fast, due of not so rare crashes (If I could help, I would, but I don't know that much about programing :( )

Ew, no. Wasn't that the default 3.9 theme? I didn't like SMMAX at all.

Is the percentage scoring the same? You know, ~*ItG lOvEr*~ here.
Yoshi is better than Mario, and you know it's true

Beta testing at the moment. Good at pad? PM me for details.

right now there's a few things holding up SM5 Alpha 2's release, so I decided to go forward with introducing this project in the meantime. (I am still working on both this and regular StepMania 5.)

Yes, SMMAX is the default 3.9 theme (and some people (who aren't me) actually like it for some reason).

These are the current values as of April 11, 2012.

Some of the MIGS percentage values are handled differently than this (W5 is a -4, misses are -8, hitting a mine is 0, and a successful hold is worth 6), and I'm not sure if I am going to follow through on those.

I've decided to not wreck my brain trying to get libmpg123 working in place of libmad for the time being.
The result of this? StepMania 5 Tournament Edition pre001 is now available.

Please only use this program if you are familiar with StepMania, as this version of the game does not hold your hand.

I would like bug reports and feedback, especially as it pertains to the gameplay. Place all such comments/bug reports in this thread, as I don't want them cluttering up the official StepMania 5 bugtracker.

I will test this one out. If its really good I may switch from using 3.95 to this one. Thanks for the upload.

Edit: I just tested it out and its working really well I like it. Nice work. Also I took a snapshot of my score but I can't seem to find it. Do I have to make a snapshots folder? I am now switching to this stepmania version :)

For Windows XP, I know the location is %appdata%/StepMania 5 TE/Screenshots/ if you aren't using Portable.ini (see the readme in the Docs folder for more information).

I don't know the exact location on Windows Vista/7 offhand.

You can get to the location via the run menu (Windows key+R or in the Start menu) or the Windows Explorer address bar.
