Stepmania 5 autoselecting options

So recently my friend has been having trouble with stepmania 5. When you are at the start menu the game automatically moves by itself like moves up and down the options and then randomly presses enter even though a key isn't pressed. Before this happened the enter key was replaced with another but it was fixed by changing it in the Keymaps.

Is there a way to fix the problem?

In a more general sense, it acts as if a monkey is typing keys randomly on a keyboard.
Still kinda funny to watch every now and again.
