As you have already noticed, stepmania online's server is currently down. I am temporarily hosting one. If the server does not come back up soon, the users, kaya/barX are willing to host one of their own with SMO code. Until then, you can connect to my server.

Before I post the IP, I want you know this. If you intend to use this IP for hacking purposes, I will shutdown this server and no longer supply it. I am doing this to be nice. Please be nice as common courtesy in return. Other then that, enjoy the server.

Hi all. I've been playing stepmania for a few years now and I've been looking for a place to play online. Apparently, I came at a bad time because from what I'm reading the main server is down for maintenance indefinitely. I stumbled across this forum where it seems that two of you have graciously offered to temporarily host servers. Thank you!

However, when I connect to either server and try to play a song, stepmania stops responding as the song is loading. It only comes back to life by forcing a disconnect with the server. I am running stepmania 5.0 alpha 1 on a x64 Windows 7 machine. This is my first time trying to play online so I might be doing something stupid like having the wrong firewall settings, but I'm not really sure where to begin. Can anyone help me out?

As up right now, official SMO had been shut down due to finances problem.

Try upgrading to SM 5 Alpha 1a and see if you can connect to either one of the servers.
