Default Meanings & Theories: LIMBO (SPOILERS)

Because I'm a cheap dude that doesn't have a lot of money to play through a game, I turn to YouTube for playthroughs because I wanna know what's gonna happen. Yes, I'm that cheap.

But that's not the point to this thread.

If you have played LIMBO, the newly-released X360 DL game, and did see the ending, talk about it here so this is a spoiler to the ending of the game. Stop reading at this point and watch it either from the game (5-6 hours) or go to YouTube like I did. The choice is yours.

Most of these theories come from this link.

-To start, the title of the game is a clue to the story, but I don't understand it very well. I do know what it means, thought...

-To make things direct, both siblings are dead at the start. The game is the Limbo scene of the boy. Don't believe me? Check the area of the title screen and the ending scene.

-On the title, everything looks old, the stairs are broken and there are flies around. In the ending, the stairs are ok and everything doesn't look old and the position of the boy and the girl before the scene ends is the exact location of the flies.

-Most of the traps, enemies, characters and scenery are childhood things that happen to the boy.

-The platforming is exaggerating what happen to the boy prior to his death.

These theories makes sense. I really can't think of anything else that explains what happens in the game.

    What are your thoughts?

If I can't play the game because either I have very low money most of the time or can't find it and I'm interested in the story, I check LPs for the story.

And yes, I also check it for the gameplay, which is why I saw a MW2 LP made when the game was released during a launch event (link here) and also all 3 Mother games. (chuggaaconroy FTW!)

But whatever, I guess this thread is dead now. Since it is, I shall post 2 more video links:

    This is what I think.

When you see the title screen, you can see (and hear) two pairs of flies in the background. You also see a rotten ladder, and what appears to be something smashed in the upper right corner of the screen. The reason that there are two pairs of flies is because that is where the bodies of the boy and his sister lay. However, they did not die at the same time. The girl died first. The boy's sister fell out the treehouse, breaking her neck. The boy did not know what to do, so he ran through the forest, trying to get back to the city. He accidentally stepped on a daddy long-legs spider, crushing it under his foot. By the time the boy was making his way into his hometown, rain had begun to pour down from the sky. The boy reached his house, and discovered that his parents had become drunk before the time he arrived. The boy tried to tell them about his sister, but they would not listen. Instead, they were too focused on the leak in the roof. They dragged the boy with them to go to a store for supplies to fix the roof. He went with them, and when they were coming home, they finally listened to him. They began to drive to the forest, where his sister lay, but the roads were slick and his parents were still drunk. They were able to pass through the city without any trouble, but once they reached the beginning of the forest, disaster struck. The car slid on the road, and the family was involved in a large car crash. The vehicle rolled over several times, loosening small objects that hid under the seats and sending them flying at the passengers. The car tore itself apart from the inside out. At one point, the boy began to think of his sister, and why this had happened. He remembered how his parents were drunk. Shortly after closing his eyes in one of the rolls, the car suddenly stopped, sending him flying out of the front windsheid. He landed right next to his sister.

That was in the world of the living. The boy's experience in LIMBO was a reenactment of what happened before he died. He woke up in a forest, much like the one the siblings shared. The boy had to outrun and kill a giant Spider in order to make his way towards his goal. At one point, rain fell from the sky in heavy amounts. A cave that filled with the water from above represented the leak in the roof. The brain parasites that latched themselves onto the boy's head, which obscured his vision, sense of hearing, and judgement (only being able to walk in one direction) was a representation of how his parents were drunk. Also, if you noticed when he was walking right before the parasite latched itself onto his head, he would walk past (or step on) two parasites that were lying on the ground or floating in the water. This showed how both of his parents were drunk. The boy traveled to get into a city, and then to a factory. The factory represented the supplies store. Then, the car crash happened. The room began to turn... Gravity began to change... The boy saw his sister after one of the turns... The brain parasite reminded him of how his parents were still drunk... Large objects flew around, crushing everything below or above it... Until, finally, he was thrown through a piece of glass. This was him flying through the windshield of his family's car. Once he crashed through the wall, he ended up in a forest once again. He followed the trail up the hill, and found his sister, burying their dead bodies. She had finished her journey through LIMBO before the boy, and was able to get to her place of death before him. She decided to wait there, because she knew that her brother would have to come here in order to finish his journey.
So, basically, in LIMBO you have to go through your own death a second time. In the title screen, the smashed object is the boy's family's car. Hopefully when the boy arrived, him and his sister were able to escape LIMBO and take the ladder to go to heaven.
Oh, and something I forgot to mention about the brain parasites: as you progress through the game, the effects actually become less severe. The first couple of times it latches itself onto your head, the boy's vision and hearing become obscured. Later in the game, your vision and hearing are just fine. This describes how the alcohol in his parents was wearing off.

....Dam, that makes a lot of sense.

I never bought the game when it was released but I'll make sure to do so for this year's Halloween season.

well, i think it should be very boring to do that.
Depends on the game but it's never boring if the player is commenting during the recording, especially when he tries to make you laugh or when a 'holy crap' moment happens.

Thank you for your feedback- I really appreciate it. Also, sorry about the length of my explanation. There was quite a bit to cover.
Since my last post, I have had some time to re-think my hypothesis (After all, it has been a few months. I apologize for the late reply.). If you would like me to share, just say the word and I would be more than happy to do so. For now, I would like to avoid another wall of text.

It is actually also when you don't have time for playing but you are very much interested in actually knowing that game. So it is not bad that you are reading about game. You can always read about game and its features also.
