how do i make the skins work? i have downloaded and installed them, but they dont work, do i have to activate it or something?

They are in the options menu after you select your song: they will be in a section called "noteskins"
EDIT: DOH, you meant themes.
Yes, what shake said above. My advice was for arrow skins. overall appearance changes to SM are called themes, not skins.
