Are playing songs on SM illegal?

Only if you don't have the right granted to do so for the song in question.

are you sure? Because the folders in SM have mp3 songs in it, and songs usually have a copyright.

you don't understand copyrights very well, do you?

1) not all songs are licensed in a way that forbids distribution
2) fair use if you own the album/game it was from.
3) just being mp3 doesn't mean anything at all.

Anyway... I don't own any of the DDR games, so would it be illegal for me to download a pack?
And if I get lets say, a song in Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, but I do not own the game, would that be illegal?
