We're going to start accepting StepMix entries on Sunday, October 8th 2006. In this StepMix, there will be 2 brackets: the first ending Sunday, December 3rd 2006 and the second ending Sunday, January 14th 2007. The top 10 entries from each bracket will proceed to Phase 2 of judging.

I submitted a fix to the linux kernel guys to get XBOX dance pads working in the linux kernel, and it was accepted into the linux-mm branch. This fix should be in the mainstream upcoming 2.6.19 kernel. This fixes a typical DDR pad issue, with linux reporting the D-PAD as axes instead of buttons, making jumps impossble. This fix will make Stepmania work out of the box with XBOX DDR pads under Linux.

As we mentioned in an earlier news post, In The Groove for PC/Mac can load and play your StepMania collection of songs. Unfortunately though, ITG lacks support for MP3 music files and will ignore all songs that don't use OGG music files. I've written a quick tutorial with screenshots that will walk you through batch converting your MP3 music files to OGG so that your entire collection is playable in ITG PC/Mac.
